The Chicago-born, New York-based artist leaves no topic untouched in her work, with everything from race, gender, pop culture, homophobia, and politics included in her uniquely colorful work. Here, Nina takes a minimalist approach to the Air Jordan 2 OG “Chicago”, stripping it way back to basics, modifying the build, and un-shaping the release into a vector-like motif akin to her artwork. Keeping the sol units intact, the upper is overhauled into a simplified version. Heel overlays are oversized and extended, with ridging to its superior removed and replaced by a suede patch. Shrunken is the pair’s midfoot overlays and toe caps, instead opting for a shortened suede toe and one-piece leather toe/mid-panel. The pair is then completed by a special-edition art piece hang tag illustrated by Nina herself, depicting Mike’s famous fade-away.
