Singer, actor, dancer, and choreographer — Teyana Taylor is a born artist. She’s also a notable sneakerhead, having one epic hoarding of sneakers. Previously tapped by Reebok and adidas for footwear collaborations, the New York native is now being blessed with her own release under the Jordan Brand umbrella, the Teyana Taylor x Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT 2 “A Rose From Harlem”
Referencing both Taylor’s 2018 album and her upbringing in upper Manhattan, the singer has put a unique spin on the Formula 23-filled design. Seemingly borrowing heavily from Virgil Abloh’s legendary OFF-WHITE x Air Jordan 1 High, the pair features an abundance of tack stitching, low-profile Swooshes, and a Chixago-based color blocking. Teyana has hammed up the rosy theme with throned embroidered Swooshes on the right shoe’s profile panels and tongue tags, while loosened ankle flaps drive the title home on the underside. TEY-branded tongues and insoles are noted on the opposing side.
Construction-wise, the pair prefers a premium leather construct throughout, with cracked leather collars adding textural contrast to its surrounding. Gold upper lace loops house bright golden-yellow laces, with an aged-look tint applied to the midsole to round out the design.
